Day four at Yellowstone was our make up day. It was the day that we wanted to try to catch everything that we missed before. We were able to see most everything before the day end but never did make it to Mud Volcano. Oh well that can be for next time.
Our first stop was the West Thumb Geyser Basin Trail. West Thumb overlooks Yellowstone Lake, which also happens to be the largest lake at high elevation in North America. This basin pours an average of 3100 gallons of hot water into the lake every day and the temp still stays at a warm 45 degrees and that is during the summertime!

This is Black Pool, which used to be black until 1991 the water temperature rose and killed all of the bacteria.
Fishing Cone. Mountain men used to catch their fish and then swing around and cook them right in the same spot.

We made sure JuJu was attached to one of us at all times! This boardwalk made us nervous.

Steamboat Geyser- the worlds tallest active geyser. It can throw water as high as 300ft. It last erupted in 2003.
Elk
The girls and I took a hike to some more painted pot and geysers. I wish I could remember the name but it was inbetween the Norris and Canyon areas. Poor Gracie stayed in the car.
After all of our hiking that day we headed back to the Old Faithful Inn. We were so excited to stay there, but after checking in we quickly realized that Gracie couldn't get to the room. So we were moved to the Snow Lodge. Very nice and quiet place, also one of the best meals we had in the park was there. Not to mention the FREE WiFi.
